OATSEA = Open Access to Training, Self Education and Assessment - for the Offline
"Powered by Community and Technology"
The OATSEA Foundation was founded by Rosemary Anson, Roshan Bandara, Harry Longworth and Joe Staltari because we wanted to use our capabilities in the best way possible to make the world a beter place for our kids and family.
We started by becoming one of only four Australian teams competing in the Global Learning XPRIZE and leveraged our experience in capacity development and international projects in our "day jobs" to building technology that can be deployed virally to teach and train anywhere even when there's no internet - we call it Teacher Virus (R) - google it.
We started talking to friends and colleagues and were surprised just how many others were inspired by the idea of doing something to make the world a better place by solving the problem of global access to education and training - education and training in numeracy, literacy and technology for example.
We see education and training as the answer to many of the world's problems bucause it creates new capability to solve problems and deliver value - and believe that recent advancements in technology make it possible to provide access to education and training in an extremely leveraged and cost effective way to those without (and thus no money to pay for internet).
As a result we launched the foundation in January 2015 and we look forward to building a community of like minded people commited to bringing about a better tomorrow for all using the power of community and technology.
